This Pothos is all submerged growth. The mother plant that the node was cut off of had emerged growth to allow for proper respiration, however the nodes that developed into the plants for sale are all deep submerged growth. Higher light and heavy aeration is recommended for this plant to remain in its submerged form longer. It will almost certainly reach for the surface of the water, so this plant is ideal for semi emerged growth setups.
This is NOT normal Pothos. This is 100% submerged growth. It takes much longer to grow than emerged growth, but is ideal for the mature aquarium hobbiest who might appreciate such a plant. This has been a true pleasure to own and have in our tanks, and is now a dedicated member of our main breeding ecosystem because of its ability to help filter water in the search of nutrients. This isn't an everyday purchase, you can get an Anubis or a java fern at any online plant store for a much better price and I would expect you to if that is what yo are looking for, but if you are looking to treat yourself with a new addition to your collection of oddballs, this is a great option.
If you want to keep this plant its happiest, give it enough air to see small air bubbles flowing through the tank. Any normal airstone and air pump should work, but It is recommended to use a pump rated for a tank multiple sizes larger than your own.
This was not grown under sterile conditions, and as such it has a healthy coating of protective bacteria and most plants will have an assortment of beneficial symbiotic microorganisms that can help your ecosystem, as well as eggs from a diverse variety of aquatic invertebrates, including a diverse variety of fancy freshwater snails. They inhabit the plant the same way that clown fish live in anemones, helping each other to survive better together. These organisms are not guaranteed, but 'cleaned' plants are not something that we currently offer, as the process of cleaning the plant kills all of the symbiotic beneficial organisms.
